Multilingual School Newspaper
|
The Talenacademie Nederland is organizing a completely new project called the Multilingual school newspaper. This is a pilot project and it is a language competition that will be held for secondary school pupils. Last year De Meergronden also participated in a poetry contest which was also introduced by the Talenacademie. De Meergronden is now participating in this new contest which is made possible with the financial support of the European Platform for Dutch Education. This new concept refers to a multilingual school newspaper in which youngsters can write articles in English, German and French about subjects which interest them and which may also be of interest to students in other countries. |
A national inquiry into Dutch schools which was held by a research centre showed that nearly all school papers are written in Dutch. There are , however , no papers in which pupils can show their knowledge of other languages, but this is going to change and De Meergronden is going to do something about it during the activity-week (7-11 november 2005) which will be held at school!
